Emeritus Professor of English George Ellenbogen Launches Book, Matin d’horreur, in Paris, Presents Reading Series in Germany and Austria

Emeritus Professor of English George Ellenbogen is doing a series of readings overseas in spring 2009, beginning at the Canadian Cultural Centre in Paris with the launch of Matin d'horreur, the French edition of his last book, Morning Gothic: New and Selected Poems. The multilingual reading series will cover venues in Germany, including Bayreuth, Bamberg, Dresden, Freiburg Leipzig, Siegen and Wuppertal. Ellenbogen will also travel to Austria to appear at the Salzburg Global Seminar at the Schloss Leopoldskron, where he will be in residence for four days. Previous participants include such luminaries as Vaclav Havel, dramatist and former President of the Czech Republic; Warren Christopher, former U.S. Secretary of State; and Margaret Mead, preeminent anthropologist of the 20th century.
A distinguished poet, Ellenbogen's poems have appeared in several anthologies and in magazines such as The Literary Review, Partisan Review, Boulevard, Revue Europe and Queen's Quarterly.
