Bentley University Marketing Chair Pierre Berthon and PhD Candidate Philip DesAutels Selected to Serve on International Jury for Globe Award 2009, Presented June 3, Sweden

DesAutels Also a Featured Speaker at the 2009 Globe Forum, June 4 and 5

Bentley University PhD candidate Philip DesAutels served as chairman of the jury for the Globe Forum's Globe Award for Sustainability Innovation 2009, presented on June 3 by H.R.H. Swedish Crown Princess Victoria at a ceremony at the Grand Hotel in Stockholm, Sweden. Also serving on the jury of internationally recognized experts was Pierre Berthon, Bentley University marketing professor and Clifford F. Youse Chair of Marketing. DesAutels was also a featured speaker at the 2009 Globe Forum.

Founded in 2003 in Sweden, the Globe Forum is an international business network and marketplace for innovators, entrepreneurs and investors interested in sustainable business. The Globe Award was created to foster sustainable development in society and business. It is the world's preeminent sustainability honor and is awarded to Globe Award Laureates who serve as ambassadors and role models. The jury selected Tesla Motorcars as this year's Sustainable Innovation Laureate for both its level of impact and for its approach. The impact of Tesla's effort reaches well beyond their own cars -- by taking sustainable transportation to the mainstream -- Tesla sets the stage for a revolution in transportation that could quite literally reduce global petroleum consumption while massively reduce carbon and greenhouse gas emissions.

"Economic collapse, global warming, social unrest - are all challenges we face today. In our ever more interdependent world, the need to take a broader perspective of business encompassing people, planet and profit simultaneously has never been more prominent. Sustainable business is challenging, it is hard and it requires a vastly different set of skills. The Globe Award allows us to find the best of the best examples of sustainable innovators, and to hold them up as examples so that others can be inspired to follow their lead." says DesAutels. "The passion and achievement of all applicants to the Sustainable Innovation award stands as a beacon to the potential of our sustainable future."

DesAutels serves as Microsoft's director of Academic Evangelism and is a PhD student at Bentley University where he is building on Bentley's long history of work in ethical and socially responsible business enterprises to understand the implications of sustainability on business in the 21st century.
